Minister of Tourism and Sports Launches Safety Campaign to Boost Confidence for “Maha Songkran World Water Festival 2026” at Benjakitti Park, Enhancing Nationwide Tourist Safety Measures During Songkran.
On 11 April 2026 at 5:30 p.m., Mr. Surasak Phancharoenworakul, Minister of Tourism and Sports, presided over the official launch of a safety and confidence-building campaign for tourists during the Songkran Festival 2026. The event, held under the campaign “Maha Songkran World Water Festival 2026” at Benjakitti Park in Bangkok, was attended by Pol.Lt.Gen. Saksira Pheuak-um, Commissioner of the Tourist Police Bureau; Ms. Thapanee Kiatphaibool, Governor of the Tourism Authority of Thailand; and representatives from relevant agencies.
The ceremony aimed to demonstrate full preparedness in ensuring the safety and security of tourists from around the world who will travel to Thailand to celebrate the Songkran Festival.
This event reflects the readiness of an integrated task force comprising Tourist Police officers, security personnel, and volunteers, who will be deployed across key tourist destinations and major celebration areas nationwide. Emphasis has been placed on proactive prevention measures and efficient facilitation for tourists, reinforcing Thailand’s image as a safe and welcoming destination while strengthening international confidence in the country’s comprehensive safety standards.
The Minister also emphasized the importance of 24/7 operations of the Tourist Police Hotline (1155) and the Tourist Assistance Center (TAC), supported by multilingual services and enhanced safety measures at high-density event venues.
Beyond safety measures, the Ministry of Tourism and Sports has collaborated with local authorities to enhance the management of tourist areas and facilitate traffic flow, ensuring that travel during Songkran 2026 remains smooth and efficient. These efforts align with Thailand’s strategic goal of positioning itself as a world-class tourism destination, with safety as a core pillar of service excellence.
