Tourist Police Bureau Enhances Safety in Tourist Areas with AI Surveillance, Arresting Over 500 Suspects, Supporting Government Goal to Attract Foreign Tourists Back to Thailand

In line with the policy of Capt.Thamanat Prompow, Deputy Prime Minister overseeing the Ministry of Tourism and Sports, which focuses on strengthening safety measures and services to build confidence among tourists, and under the leadership of Mr. Atthakorn Sirilatthayakorn, Minister of Tourism and Sports, together with Pol.Gen.Kittharath Punpetch, Commissioner General of the Royal Thai Police, emphasis has been placed on raising the safety standards in tourist destinations nationwide.

The Tourist Police Bureau reported its operational results from July 2024 to September 30, 2025, having arrested more than 500 wanted suspects through the use of intelligent AI camera systems connected with the database of the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB). These systems play a vital role in screening suspects and preventing crimes in key tourist locations. Several high-profile cases have been successfully pursued, drawing significant public attention, such as:

- In the case of fraud, the accused, who has four arrest warrants, is considered a repeat offender, causing damage to both individuals and the economy.

- Firearms-related cases, which are strongly linked to violent crimes and social disorder.

- Long-standing arrest warrants exceeding 30 years, demonstrating the determination of officers to enforce the law fairly and without exception.

At the same time, the Ministry of Tourism and Sports has launched an urgent measure, “BIG IMPACT ACT FAST”, to meet the government’s policy objectives, aiming to attract at least 2 million Chinese tourists within four months. This mission is essential to reviving the Thai economy and generating revenue for the country. Minister Atthakorn Sirilatthayakorn emphasized the importance of integrated cooperation with relevant agencies, particularly the Tourist Police Bureau, in strengthening security measures both during the upcoming high season and in preparation for the 33rd SEA Games to be hosted in Thailand.

Security measures have been further intensified, including the development of the Tourist Police 1155 Hotline and the Thailand Tourist Police mobile application, available in 8 languages, with a built-in SOS button that connects directly to provincial emergency centers 24/7. In addition, the AI Detect system has been deployed to scan facial images and cross-check them with national arrest warrant databases, enhancing monitoring of high-risk individuals. Alongside this, the “Safe Tourist Zone” campaign has been launched nationwide.

These efforts highlight the commitment of the Government, the Ministry of Tourism and Sports, and the Royal Thai Police to ensure safety and high-quality services, thereby maintaining Thailand’s status as one of the world’s top tourist destinations. This is particularly aimed at regaining confidence among Chinese tourists, who remain a crucial driving force in Thailand’s sustainable economic development.

For tourists, the Tourist Police Bureau reminds that assistance is available through the Tourist Police Hotline 1155 or the Thailand Tourist Police application, accessible 24 hours a day.
